JO1’s Kinjo Sukai “Today, well, I will talk about ‘U-kun’ and ‘Mi-chan’” - the latest news about his beloved pets

On the night of the 6th July (Wednesday), the radio program ‘JO1 All Night Nippon X’ (every Wednesday at 24~24:58 on Nippon Housou) aired in which Shiroiwa Ruki of the 11 member global boy group JO1 acts as the main personality. As the weekly changing personalities Ohira Shosei and Kinjo Sukai appeared in this episode. He reported the latest news of his pets, Hercules beetles, which are the world's largest beetles.

Kinjo had also appeared on the 8th June episode and back then he revealed that he keeps two Hercules beetles as pets. He gave them the names “U-kun” and “Mi-chan” and happily talked about how he carefully raises them.

Ruki: Sukai, have you anything interesting recently?

Sukai: Rather than something interesting, I think I have “a story everyone is interested in”.

Ruki: Well, okay (laughs)

Sukai: Today I would like to delve deeply into the talk about “U-kun” and “Mi-chan”.

Ruki: Please do so.

Sukai: My “U-kun” and “Mi-chan” are larvae of Hercules beetles, the world's largest beetles, and I am raising them now.

Ruki: I see.

Sukai: When I talked about them the last time (during the broadcast on 8th June), I had just started keeping them and they still felt like babies, but recently they have grown a lot. I said that before, too, but I diligently control the temperature because I want to raise them in a very good environment. They eat a lot of soil.

Shosei: oh!

Sukai: Their weight quite increased a lot, too, but the bigger the weight of the larva, the bigger it will be when it becomes a beetle.

Shosei: Yes yes.

Sukai: So, I am aiming for 200 grams! But, I know that’s absolutely impossible. Still, they have grown so much that it really surprised me.

Shosei: So amazing~!

Ruki: You keep two beetles, right?

Sukai: Right. A male and a female one.

Afterwards, Kinjo’s beetle talk continued and he passionately spoke about the troubles of breeding and his feelings for the two. By the way, “U-kun” and “Mi-chan” also live in Kinjo’s bedroom and he softly said “Somehow, I feel that I want to be with them and that I am raising children.”.
