[OWV] JJ 210727

https://jj-jj.net/lifestyle/145423/

Nakagawa Katsunari
Born 1997.3.16. 24 years old. From the prefecture Hyogo. An all rounder who charms with his smooth rapping and vocals. With his 183cm style, handsome face and gentle personality, he is in charge of elegance and healing in OWV.

He got __ for the first time which he never picked up in 24 years!

Is there something you did Get Away from recently?
I did Get Away from only wearing black clothes! Because my skin tone is darker, I felt that this stands out when I wear white clothing, and I wanted to avoid this. However, since I debuted with OWV, I had the opportunity to wear various costumes prepared for me, and often I wore clothes with colors and designs that I would have never picked up in the past. There was the realization that “surprisingly, it suits me” and recently I added those to my wardrobe. In my 24 years, I never obtained a white shirt, but this year I finally got one! Shuta advised me “You already have black shirts, so how about a white one?”, so I ended up buying a white shirt, too. I’m looking forward to making my white shirt debut this summer!

On the contrary, is there something you got into because you couldn’t Get Away?
Morning showers. Sorry, that’s too normal (laughs) It became a ritual before going to work. A slightly warmer shower will help the blood flow under your eyes and wake your face up. When I completely dry my hair and moisturize them to make them glossy with the Givenchy lotion, I switch into my work mood!

The highlight of the 4th single is the uncompromising MV!

Is there something you wanted to do because of the production process “Get Away”?
To be honest, the choreography of the title track “Get away” was so hard that I wanted to run away from it. It’s quite different from the songs we had before and in the dance the foundation is important. Of course the 4 of us have to match the dance, but I struggled to express the atmosphere of friends having fun in summer, and to dance spontaneously… During the lessons, I wanted to Get Away (cries)!

If you had to pick one thing from the 4th single that makes it so appealing that you can’t Get Away from it?
I hope you will pay attention to the setting of the MV which is full of attention to the details. We wanted to express “A summer that is enjoyed at home”, so another point is that we didn’t go completely overboard with the season feeling. The costumes are also not THE Summer ones, and the denim outfits are based on the color blue to give a sense of unity, but combined with Shuta wearing a long coat, in the main outfits Fumiya’s sleeveless (shirt) is made of knitted fabric. As OWV, once we have matched our opinions, we tell the production team what kind of setting we want to create as a consensus. This time because it’s a period when it’s hard to go out, we really wanted to convey “We want to show us enjoying the summer and being in high spirits inside '' and “We want to include the expressions that we are truly close without forgetting the humor”. Matching to the pop summer song I hope you will enjoy the cute accessories like balloons and ice cream and the fresh facial expressions of the playful us.

OWV, releasing new songs with the theme “a day in summer” “Broadening our image” - Interview -

The 4 member boy group OWV will release their 4th single “Get Away” on July 28th.
The concept of this release is “a day in summer”, featuring M-1 “Get Away” being a summer song that you want to listen to at “midday” in summer, M-2 “twilight” being a mid-tempo ballad that makes you feel the “evening twilight” and M-3 “Bling Bling” being a dance song with the motive of a “tropical night” in which a low beat is distinct.
At WEB The Television an interview with the members Honda Kosuke, Nakagawa Katsunari, Urano Shuta and Sano Fumiya was carried out. We asked about the highlights of the new songs and their feelings towards the fans after reaching one year since their formation.

Didn’t the songs become perfect for the summer this year?

The new song “Get Away” has quite a different image. Were you surprised?
Kosuke & Katsunari: (at the same time) eh…
Katsunari: I will go first. (Laughs) When I heard this refreshing track and the positive lyrics about “how to enjoy this summer” even in the corona pandemic, I thought it was the perfect song for this year.

Honda-san, what were you about to say?
Kosuke: No, it’s the same as Katsu said. Until now a lot of OWV songs had a strong impact and a cool image. I thought that it’s nice to have a “summer song” like “Get Away” to broaden our image.

When you change the sound, the way you sing also changes.
Shuta: That’s right. We are singing it while valuing the tempo. I try not to forget the flow and the beat because if you sing it without losing the groove, you will sing too fast.
Katsunari: It had a R’n’B like feeling, but at a good tempo… that’s what I said yesterday! (Laughs)
Shuta: You got me (laughs) the hook is difficult. It’s easy to become light hearted.
Katsunari: Ah, I thought so too.
Shuta: Because if it’s too light hearted, it will become childish. So I try to bring out some deepness.

What kind of feeling does the choreography have?
Fumiya: From the melody you would think, it’s a free song, but it’s well choreographed until the end. Rather than just getting everyone together and showing a formation, it’s relaxed and easy going. I think we will have fun together during a live performance.

“Crazy” is a unanimous vote…!

In the chorus there are the lyrics “Wild crazy sexy cool”, but I would like you to give each word to a member…
Katsunari: Dividing those! Sounds fun.
Kosuke: everything fits me~ what should we do? (Laughs)

Let’s start with Honda-kun!
Kosuke: Well, it can be only that.
Katsunari: Eh, I wonder if that is okay?
Kosuke: Could it be cute?
Katsunari: No not that (laughs) I can’t choose between two options.

Let’s go on 1,2. 1,2…
Katsunari, Fumiya & Shuta: Wild!
Katsunari: That was dangerous! Because I was thinking about Crazy, too.
Kosuke: Wrong! Crazy is that guy (laughs) I am wild. Yes, because my catchphrase is wild & mild.

Let’s go with Crazy next.
Kosuke: We can say this on the spot. 1,2!
Kosuke, Katsunari & Fumiya: Urano!
Shuta: This was a unanimous vote! Well, I’m not sexy.
Katsunari: You are neither wild, sexy or cool (laughs)
Fumiya : From now on you can go with “crazy yellow”.
Shuta: I think of crazy in a good sense as I’m always having a good time and I’m someone hyper.
Kosuke: You understand this in an instant. For the rest it‘s the same.

Sexy is…?
Kosuke, Fumiya & Shuta: Nakagawa!
Katsunari: Me? I thought it’s Fumiya. Thank you very much.

So, cool is…
Kosuke: It’s Fumiya. It’s also reflected in his member colour.
Katsunari: I see. Cool can also mean “ikemen” so I was thinking of that, too (laughs)
Kosuke: So you thought that Fumiya was sexy and you were the cool = handsome one. You made a good ending (laughs)

You ended it (laughs) I would also like to ask you about the coupling songs. In “twilight” Sano-san’s singing sounds different, it is impressive.
Fumiya : Is that so? It’s the first song that is so mellow and it was a challenge for me, too. That’s why I was somehow more anxious than normally. Until now, I used to sing using a lot of breath, but after consulting the members, too, I sang with my natural voice. Everyone told me “It’s good”, so I’m glad that I challenged it.
Katsunari: Isn't the voice in your head and the one others hear different? Fumiya had been puzzled about this, but no matter how often I listened to it, it was really good, so I hope he would continue with this singing style.
Fumiya : Y-yes (laughs)

“Also, “Bling Bling” is a song that has OWV’s king’s way.
Fumiya & Kosuke: That’s right.
Katsunari: We thought so, too.
Fumiya : It’s the 4th single and I think it has sharpened OWV’s character even more.
Kosuke: I absolutely agree.
Fumiya : I feel like that gradually an unrefined power became clear.
Katsunari: There is sexiness and matureness. These kinds of things gradually come out in the 4th single.

Well, the single “Get Away” is about “a day in summer” with three different kinds of songs, but please tell us your summer memories!
Kosuke: What comes into my mind on the spot, is the summer last year. The shooting of our solo program “OWV road”. The 4 of us got into a small car and went on a drive which was a lot of fun.
Fumiya : This has been fun~ In my case it’s something from long ago, from the time of my 3rd or 4th year of elementary school, but I won GariGari-kun ice 3 times in a row! TN: After eating the GariGari-kun ice, you are sometimes lucky to find a message on the stick that you get another one for free.
Katsunari: That’s awesome!
Fumiya : You won too often, you didn’t need a 4th one (laughs)
Kosuke: Amazing~ A luxury problem.
Fumiya : You should have told such an amazing story as a closing (laughs). During my middle school year, I went to see the fireworks with friends when something fell on my back. It moved a lot, so when I thought “What’s that?” and looked, it was a giant centipede! Well, it’s the worst memory. It was scary. It's been a trauma until now.
Shuta: I don’t really have any summer memories… Because I never left the house in summer. The single one I have is a memory of an injury. With my father I went snorkeling, and I touched a beautiful fish right before me and when I got out of the sea, there were cuts in my fingers. It really hurt. So I put a sea plaster on it.
Katsunari: What is a sea plaster?
Shuta: A thick plaster so that no water reaches it.
Katsunari: You lived for 24 years and that’s your only summer memory? (laughs)
Shuta: I barely went out because I get a sunburn fast and in the summer holidays I studied everyday, so what I like since I was a child is to fill the bathtub with cold water and go into it with a swim ring and a plastic duck to get a taste of the summer feeling.

A hard year for both us who let you wait and the ones who waited for us

Urano-san, please create wonderful summer memories this year (laughs) Well, one year has passed since the formation of OWV, what do you think about it?
Kosuke: Rather than “it was fast”, it feels like “Already a year has passed.” There was nothing but new things and a lot of things we worried about… A year in which the challenging days piled up… It was an intense year.

You were worried?
Kosuke: I wasn’t worried about my way of living as OWV, but it’s been a situation in which we couldn’t meet the fans, so with that in mind we members talked for a long time about our music, our performances, our concept while being worried. But it was also a time where we did a step up and when we learnt something.

How did your feelings regarding the fans change?
Fumiya : At the live concert on April 11th, we were finally able to meet the fans, but until this point our performances and words only got out online. That’s why, I felt the simple gratitude of “I’m very sorry for letting you wait” and “It’s reassuring to know that in this situation where we are unable to meet, you stayed at our side until now, and thank you very much.” Because I think it’s been a hard year for both us who let you wait and for the people who waited for us.

But Honda-san cried during the live…
Kosuke: I thought the same as the members, but after all, the feeling of “finally we see each other” was huge… There had been a lot of anger and stress because of Corona and it has been a hard world to live in, but I was thankful that we were able to do what we wanted to do.
Like Sano said, the feeling of “being thankful” for the fans who waited for us the whole time, was pouring out of me and I was touched. Of course, there are still a lot of fans we weren’t able to meet yet, but I feel the same gratitude to the fans who cheer for us online and I want to meet them soon.

It’s been a hard year. For OWV various things piled up, but in this time, the SEASON2 of the program PRODUCE 101 JAPAN which led to OWV’s debut took place.
Katsunari: Everyone was shining. Some of them overlapped with us back then.
Kosuke: I also appeared in related programs, but when I saw the trainees I strongly felt “You have to do your best!”

Honda-san made the surprise announcement in the related program that INI’s Kimura Masaya-san had been his junior in school (laughs).
Kosuke: Actually yes (laughs) Everyone didn’t say it, but there are quite the relations to the guys who appeared on SEASON2. People who have the same dream are connected.

For the trainees who didn’t become debut members, OWV’s hard working existence will give them hope.
Kosuke: I would be happy about that.

Besides this, because there is the precedent of OWV, also the watchers can watch SEASON1 more comfortably.
Kosuke: I’m happy if you think like this. But we hope rather than “OWV from PRODUCE 101 JAPAN” we hope that people will say “Those guys appeared on PRODUCE 101 JAPAN.”

In September you reach one year since the debut, but please tell us your goal for the second half this year.
Kosuke: We want to do a tour. We can’t say it for sure because of the influence of Corona, but after all we want to have a tour.
Shuta: Because there are a lot of regions where we couldn’t go! We want to see everyone soon!

OWV’s Nakagawa Katsunari, a special interview about “his recent interests and the self that has grown since the debut…”
Reappearance of OWV who continue to make a buzz on SNS trends at CLASSY.ONLINE! The theme for the 4th single “Get Away” that is going to be released on July 28th is “a day in summer”. They talked a lot about the theme “ときめき” (being excited/ heart beating faster), so what they want to be excited about in summer, what made their heart beat faster recently… The 2nd one to appear is Nakagawa Katsunari-kun whose charm is the gap of his handsome young face and his powerful raps.

Making your heart beat faster fashion items that he has recently discovered…?

Congratulations on the release of the 4th single! Please tell us something that you want to be excited about this summer!
I want to be excited about fashion. One of such items are shoes with a flattened heel design. You call them babouche, don’t you? Recently, I bought beige sneakers. They have a slit at the side and the design has some flare. I was thinking what kind of shoes would go with wide pants, if it’s not sneakers, so I came across babouche. For now, I only have a vague idea what kind of babouche I like, but I haven’t found my favourite design yet. If I find some I like, I will buy them on the spot and try out a summer outfit.

Was there something that made your heart unconsciously beat faster?
Recently, I started to like foliage plants. When I was at my family home, I thought “Mom, why are you only buying plants?” But nowadays, I have become more sensitive and interested in a lot of things. When I looked up plants, I found a lot of stylish ones and instantly I wanted some. What I like are the ones who have some blossoms and leaves on only one branch. I looked up what fit my idea and together with Shuta I went to search for them, but besides going around to various places and looking for those, I hardly found the ones that fit my idea… However, I found them at the florist near the agency! At that moment, I became unconsciously excited (and said) “Found it!” I’m also very particular about vases and pots, so I’m researching right now to find my favourites. I’m looking forward to getting a nice pot and to welcome the foliage plant in it.

The MV’s highlight is the “member’s friendship”!

What was something in the production process that made you excited?
Unlike the previous MV which had a set that used fire, had a dark world setting and a wild image, there are a lot of sets that are cute and poppish. We are challenging a concept that OWV hasn’t done before, so please pay attention to this, and I became excited by the cute concept of my own set. The set was hollowed out like a donut and we shot scenes in which we rolled around in it. (And, from the side Urano-kun, showed a picture from this scene, rotating the screen) This scene, it was really taken showcasing how well the members get along with each other. I would be happy if your heart also beat faster when you see us in a fun atmosphere.

From the songs featured on “Get Away”, please tell us the highlight that “This will surely let your heart beat faster!”.
First, Shuta. (While watching him) eh… (besides thinking of the good sides) Can I have a day? Just kidding, I know it on the spot. The adlibs of the hook part of Twilight “Your spring, summer, fall and winter are all vivid~”. Behind the scenes he did it a lot and without joking, it’s so cool! The song ends with Shuta, but (I thought he deserves) a standing ovation! I think you can surely enjoy every detail of Shuta’s greatness as a vocalist!
Honda-kun’s heart beating point is how he breaks into “twilight”. His characteristic singing comes at the beginning of the song and it surprised me. This way of breaking into the song, I really like it.
For Fumiya, it’s the part “Why you’re so far? Touching your bare skin~” in “Bling Bling”. Fumiya’s voice has a dreamy atmosphere that has a floating feeling, but this comes out completely and the choreography is also cool. The 3 of us are in unison and Fumiya is alone. The composition where a good voice stands out is also noteworthy.
My heart beating point is the part “Right by your side whispering in your ear~” in the bridge before the last hook. It was a bit of trial and error and at the end I sang it with a slight painful feeling. For singing, it’s a good part. Dear QWV, I hope you sing it with a really good feeling and without pain!

Soon it’s 1 year after your debut. Was there something recently that made you feel like you have grown?
Compared to the time of the debut, the way I’m grasping the songs has changed quite a bit. Next to me is someone who excels at that…(he said and looked at Urano-kun next to him) During the recording process of the 4th single, the realisation of “Even if I am a bit bad at it, the way I approach the lyrics conveys the feelings.” was huge. Whether it’s singing, rapping or dancing, iI came to the point that the most important thing is to express the joy with the rhythm. I think it’s exactly because some time has passed since the debut that I have come to think about my expression in the song and not whether I’m good or bad at it, and to research which singing style is good for this beat.

[JO1] Classy 210714

https://classy-online.jp/beauty/160790/

JO1 is the official beauty partner of YSL. Is there a beauty plan you want to challenge in the future?
Sho: We are trying various hairstyles. That‘s why it’s hard… What could it be? Isn’t it gorgeous how the gold was used in the packing design of “Libre”? That’s why I’m inspired by this and if it is possible everyone will be blonde!
Ren: Ahahahaha (breaks out laughing) Everyone~?
Sho: I wonder what atmosphere will be created.
Ren: (to Sukai) Your smile is forced.
Sukai: No comment (laughs)
Ren: Syoya likes make-up and he teaches me a lot (saying) “Ren-kun, this suits you!” His recent recommendation was to use eyeshadow under my eyes. If I get the chance, I would like to try using a lot of eyeshadow under my eyelid.
Sukai: I would like to have a shoot where everyone has long hair and that transcends gender. Everyone has shoulder length hair. I like it when people wear fragrances and brush their long hair so that it smells soft. This is something I would like us to do.
Sho: You like the scents from everyone else, but this time you become the one who smells well (laughs)
Sukai: That’s right. I would like to do a shooting where everyone from JO1 will brush their hair and smell the fragrances.

For today’s event the keyword is “LIBRE/Freedom”. Who is the most free spirited one among the members? Please tell us an episode.
Ren: 1, 2!
Ren: Sukai!
Sukai: Me!
Ren: (Sho) didn’t say anything, but among us, it should be Sukai, right?
Sukai: But for Sho-kun it’s someone else? Who is it?
Sho: No… If it’s the 3 of us, I think it’s surprisingly me.
Ren: Eh~ it’s you?
Sukai: Ah~ But I think I know (why)
Sho: I think I do things properly when it’s the occasion for them, but the basic okinawan… that thing? There is a bit of free spirit. So in that sense, I’m a little torn.
Sukai: Of course. The uchinaa time flows (through you).
TN: Wikipedia explains uchina time as an unique sense of time present in Okinawa
Ren-kun, you think you aren’t a free spirited person?
Ren: (strengthens his voice) That’s right. Because I’m, well, always working for everyone.
Sho: Heyhey, what’s that? (Laughs) Suddenly, you are rising in esteem.
Ren: Everyone is funny and I like to watch them. I’m more a watcher than someone who does various reactions himself, so I’m always watching over them.
Sukai-kun, you think you are the most free spirited one?
Sukai: Among these people, yes (laughs)
Ren: That’s right. If it’s the 3 of us, it’s only Sukai (who is free spirited) but if you look at us as a whole, we are the mature ones (laughs) JO1’s mature team
Sho: If you look at the whole JO1, there are a lot of free spirited people (laughs)
Who else?
Sho: Each one has his own free spirit. If I had to name one… (thinks a bit) surprisingly Keigo.
Ren & Sukai: ah~ (consent)
Sho: When it’s a different kind of free spirit, the kind of free spirit that dashes forward with fun, it’s Keigo in that case. (To Ren) Who do you think?
Ren: It’s pretty much everyone but… (laughs) I will mention my favourite free spirit. It’s Syoya. Because he is the type to not let himself be influenced by his surroundings, to like his favourite things a lot and who dashes when he wants to do something. But he also has a natural airhead and cute side. If we are in the car returning from work, everyone is exhausted and sleeps, but he talks the whole time. Some time ago, we had two consecutive days when we weren’t really busy and he ordered Sushi 3 times in this time.
Sho: He loves Sushi, doesn’t he?
Ren: If you don’t stop him, he will dash forward the whole time. Ah, Junki is also free spirited. In a good way, he is someone who (thinks of himself) as the Center of the world. His heart (thinks) that he is the main character. At practise or when the staff of a program gives us refreshments. When we decide to take a break and eat, everyone has their own speed of eating, right? Junki eats quietly when he is eating, but once he finishes he says “it’s time! Let’s practise!” I’m watching him while thinking “Wait, everyone is still eating.” That’s free spirited.

Please give us a message to all the JAM who kindly watched this YSL X JO1 from their screens.
Sho: (in a velvet voice) A “love message” right? This time we were able to do a performance on a wonderful stage and I think JAM world wide watched it, so I just convey “I LOVE YOU❤️”
Ren: Libre’s Intense. Since I came across this, I will always continue to use it. I really grew to like it. We can’t meet the fans right now, but I’m giving my best during practice and work while wearing Intense, if you also use it, it would be nice to move forward together while feeling us being close to you.
Sukai: (to Sho) can you translate?
Sho: Ok. ok.
Sukai/Sho: Everyone, thank you for supporting us.
Sukai: Everyone, I think the energy from us is running out.
Ren: 枯渇 (Running out)... something difficult came up.
Sho: 枯渇, what is it in English? Eh… decrease?
(The manager translates)
Sukai: You guys, having less power from us now…Also our energy is getting low…But we are fine, because we are JO1!
TN: This is copied from the original interview
Sho: Eh? Was that a love message? This?
Sukai: putting this aside
Ren: Give me back my time!
Sukai: Dear JAM, the time of not being able to meet has become quite long and I think you have anxious feelings. Also for us, it’s painful to put in words, so much that it's hard to express with words and to say “please wait for us” how much we made you wait. However, I think that we could show a performance that we have grown so much in this situation in which we can’t meet, so I hope to use this performance as an opportunity to show even more growth in our upcoming tours, events and live performances this year. Let’s meet again. JAM...LOVE YOU!!!

[JO1] CLASSY 210714

https://classy-online.jp/beauty/160795/

JO1 is the official beauty partner of YSL. Is there a beauty plan you want to challenge in the future?
Syoya: There is make-up that I want to try! I want to try an advanced version of a sparkling glitter face make-up like adding more gemstone like ornaments under your eyes or arranging those like freckles.
Takumi: In my case, hair. I want to try short hair or long hair.
Regarding which one is the wish to try stronger?
Takumi: Both are good. On the contrary, what do you think would suit me more? (laughs) For the color I would like black or something dark.
Keigo: In my case it’s also hair just like Takumi. Long hair and I would like to grow it like a lion’s mane. I love the down-front hairstyle, so I'd like to have the back trimmed and the front grown to my chin.
Shosei: For about two years, I had lightly dyed hair, so I would like to darken them. For make-up I would like to challenge something artistic. Something really art-like. I would like the stylist to do a 180 degree change of my impression. It seems fun if the members did a makeover!

For today’s event the keyword is “LIBRE/Freedom”. Who is the most free spirited one among the members? Please tell us an episode.
Keigo: It’s me! (Laughs)
Takumi & Shosei: No it’s Syoya.
Syoya: Let's do it together. Point (at the person)
Everyone: 1,2!
Takumi & Shosei -> Syoya
Keigo -> himself
Syoya -> himself
Takumi : A free spirited episode... I think the ones who see our SNS and so on, know about that, but Syoya is free spirited. He always lives freely. (= does what he wants to)
Shosei: Each day, I often think “He is so free spirited”, so it’s absolutely Syoya.
Keigo: On off days, Shosei is a very free spirited person. In a sense of freeness and openness. He goes alone to various places and his independent actions are amazing.
Syoya: yes, yes, that’s true.
Shosei: I like taking a walk. Without thinking I go out.
Syoya: In the Eau de Toilette team, I’m by far the most free spirited person. I live freely to the degree that I can’t get angry. Ah, I’m kinda saying the same as Shion.

Is there an episode from the production of “Freedom” when you felt that the members were free spirited people?
Shosei: Is (something from) practice okay too? In the last hook, there is a part when Junki shouts, but other 9 members are ducked at the side and dancing and only Syoya sang along with Junki pretending to be the main vocalist.
Keigo & Takumi: Ah, he did, he did!
Syoya: I felt I want to imitate him~
Shosei: He sang happily, so I thought it’s nice to be someone free spirited (laughs)
Keigo: A free spirited episode of Takumi is that during shootings he doesn’t do the expressions just like the director tells him. Especially because he absolutely knows his cool side, he says “I think this is cooler” and it’s used well. It’s free spirited and cool. A nice free spirit.
Takumi: I think all JO1 members are free spirited. Everyone has individuality and does the things they want to do. It’s good to be a free spirited group.

Please give us a message to all the JAM who kindly watched this YSL X JO1 performance from their screens.
Keigo: To my beloved JAM. Thank you for kindly watching our performance today. We included the wish that we want to meet JAM soon in the performance. Love you ❤️
Shosei: Everyone’s existence became a big support. At least, we can enjoy having matching perfume with JAM, so I will be happy if you will feel close to us with Libre!
Syoya: Thank you for always. I hoped to see JAM soon, to make you happy and I gave my all during the performance. There are a lot more good songs on the fourth single other than ‘Freedom’, so look forward to it.
Takumi: JAM, thank you for always. To make JAM happy I practiced hard, so please check out the performance. Other than ‘Freedom’ are a lot of other performances I want you to see on the 4th single, so please look forward to it.

JO1 SELFIE
Your trick when taking selfies?
Ren: I have no idea what looks good, so I’m taking them in weird angles.
Junki: I’m into using a filter that looks like a film camera.
Sho: I’m bad at it, so I’m studying how to do it by watching Ruki (laughs)
Ruki: I take them in a normal mood and later I adjust the colours like making it more vivid or black points.

In the new songs we will show a mature JO1!

The 4 older members also introduced the highlights of the new songs in sync!
Ruki: Ren-kun has a childlike side, doesn't he? He wants to decide something by using rock-paper-scissors.
Ren: I have that side (laughs) It’s funny to see Sho-kun’s airhead come out slowly!
Sho: I’m not aware of that... Junki often debates with Ren. Like “Can you buy time with money?” But I’ve never seen them settling. (Laughs)
Junki: Ruki recently became passionate about everything. Maybe that’s because he had started to read “Slam Dunk”.
Ren: Since quite a while Ruki has been competitive and passionate.
Ruki: You don’t know about it (laughs)
Junki: There are also sides that I didn’t know about (laughs) . I'm happy to discover new sides of the members. The new song also is a new, more mature take on JO1’s energetic image!
Ren: The message of “We are with you” is included!
Sho: The choreography also shows a different side of JO1’s ones so far, so please pay attention to it.

JO1 towards the future

[JO1] Bessatsu Kadokawa Scene 210728

Ohira Shosei x Kawashiri Ren x Kawanishi Takumi

I want to make sure continue to give surprise and impress everyone - Kawashiri

About 1 year and 4 months have passed since the debut and JO1 who had entered their 2nd year and started their 2nd chapter. The opportunities to see them on TV, in magazines or on radio steadily increase compared to the first year and you understand that their field of activity has widened. Of course the activities as a group increase and also the solo ones, and it seems like Ohira Shosei, Kawashiri Ren and Kawanishi Takumi who all made rapid progress have been influenced in various ways through their own activities.

Ren: The three of us each have done acting jobs, but each time we had lessons from an acting teacher. Back then, the teacher told us “Acting is not just saying a line from yourself, but the reaction is also important.” When I heard that actually it is a conversation, so that if the other one says this, then I should say my line in this way which means that I have to react in a way that is appropriate for the scene, I thought “I see.” and at the same time I realised that it also applies to performances. For example, our understanding of the lyrics and the understanding of the listeners are of course different. I convery the things I want to convey diligently, but once more I felt that the song depends on the recipient. That’s why, I recently think that it might be interesting to leave some margin and let the listener imagine instead of including everything that I want to do or that I want to convey.

I realised that it’s also important to take it easy - Kawanishi

Takumi: That’s more interesting, isn’t it?
Ren: Certainly, there are some things that I want to convey, but I think it’s good to do that in a different way and with different tools. I feel that also among the members, there are different ways to grasp the songs and I hope that we value this part. I started to think it’s not just handing over, but also receiving.
Shosei: I see. I’ve learned something!
Ren: Takumi has a lot of solo activities, doesn't he? His expressions during each performance are amazing, so I’m wondering if there are any hints (on how to do that).
Takumi: The hint is that I get myself (emotionally) involved in everything. I get emotionally involved in movies and dramas and when I see someone depressed I feel their pain as if it’s my own. Thus, when I listen to a song, I become emotional and that might be why my expressions come out naturally.
Shosei: You also often watch movies and such.
Takumi: I think it’s connected to this. But I don’t really understand it either (laughs) However, it’s funny, isn’t it? That I don’t understand either. There are things that come out naturally and there are parts that I decide to absolutely do like this.
Ren: Shosei has such a side, too.
Shosei: That’s right. I’m doing it naturally.

Excitement, anxiety and ambition, I feel all of them - Ohira

These three people connect everything, the influence from the outside, and their own arising feelings, to JO1’s activities. What kind of feelings might they embrace now that they have reached the 2nd year as JO1?
Shosei: We have reached our 2nd year, our 2nd chapter as JO1, but I feel excitement, anxiety and ambition, all of it. I want to aim even higher as JO1, and because INI (the group born from PRODUCE 101 JAPAN SEASON 2) were added to the same agency, I try not to lose to them and together I want to work hard.
Takumi: It happens that I get anxious about the future, too, but I forget about this when I'm working like this. That’s why, first, I want to do the best job I can do right now.
Ren: In my case, the meaning might be a little different from the original one, but it’s “Keep your guard even after a victory”. Right now, with the efforts of the staff, we can appear in various TV programs, release music and thanks to the support of JAM we have quite the presence in rankings and SNS trends. That’s almost all not from our own power. I think it will be wasted in an instant when we are arrogant saying “That’s because we worked hard” or careless. We have to put more effort into it more than last year while we have to be thankful for the support. It would be bad if people lose interest in us, so I want to continue to put effort into giving surprise and impress everyone while we also enjoy (what we are doing).
Shosei: I think JO1 is still improving.
Ren: There are mostly first time experiences, so everyday is a chance to be able to grow. Because in the genre of music that we make, there aren’t many winners or losers and there is also no upper limit. But I think each member has their own challenge. Because Junki and Sho-kun are good at singing and me, Mame or Shosei always danced, each one of us has his own strengths and weaknesses. Yet I think that if we have things we are not good at we can grow from those like I have room to grow in terms of singing and Sho-kun has room to grow in terms of dancing.
Shosei: I think each member has his own challenge, but I’m still not good at dancing, singing and rapping, so I’m training a lot. However, if I do it recklessly, nothing will change, so I try to train while keeping in mind “what could be the problem?”. Also, while moving around in the car, I watch the videos of foreign artists and creators and I get inspired by those.
Ren: I really like games. That’s why I feel like I’m playing a game right now. It’s like… I train a lot and level up, I get a skill point for dancing, I get a skill point for singing, to remember the technique of facial expressions in MVs. If I feel “I’m not good enough at this”, I will train and get the points. After all, there are also hard things during training, so I try to do it in a good mood.
Takumi: To say something serious, it’s also important to “take it easy”. I want to be active for a long time, so I realised that it’s important to take it easy, too.
Ren: It’s a bit different “to work hard” and “to work too hard”, isn’t it?
Takumi: For example, some time ago, we trained until really late at night. It wasn’t even night anymore, but morning (laughs).
Ren: The schedule was too tight and we had no other choice.
Takumi: There was also a practise on the next day, but everyone was so exhausted that we couldn’t practise. This had no reason, right? (laughs) The thought to “take it easy” happened. We did too much. It had been too much.
Shosei: We also train on our own. Takumi-kun also came to the studio while I practised alone some time ago, didn’t you? I thought “Takumi-kun also practises alone.” (laughs)

Shosei is the type that if he has something he wants to do, he will act on the spot - Kawanishi

Ren: I know that in his room Takumi sorts out and trains, but since our company has a studio, he stays back and practises after we all practised together. He is someone who barely brings his passionate side to the surface, but I think he works hard.
Shosei: Inside of him, there is a hot flame. He is really cool.
Ren: Shosei too. During the time of the album “The STAR” he was worried about singing and rapping. Me and Junki told him “Your deep voice is charming. Because we often do the high note parts, but we can’t do deep voiced parts as cool as Shosei. That’s a weapon only Shosei has. If you polish that, we will be able to make more enthralling songs”. After he said “I got it. I will try to do it.” he started to listen songs from various rappers, to watch videos, to humm the songs from other artists and to polish his weapon.
Takumi: One time, I could hear it from his room. The three of us live on the same floor. By chance when Ren and me passed his door, we heard him singing. Shosei practised the part "Forever like a star" of ''REAL”’ at his entrance, but when we laid our eras on his door and listened to it, we thought he was so good and accidentally we rang his bell. (We told him) “This was really good.”
Shosei: That made me really happy. Ren-kun’s inquisitive mind is amazing, isn’t it? He always looks above and always understands what he is still missing. This is amazing.
Takumi: Ren-kun’s best part is his dynamism!
Ren: That’s also amazing about Shosei (laughs).
Takumi: Even if there is something I want to do, once I think about it, I end up stopping. Yet if Shosei has something that he wants to do or a place where he wants to go, he moves on the spot.
Ren: (looking at Shosei) Your dynamism is amazing! (laughs) So, Mame and Shosei said that they want to learn acrobatics in order to increase their arsenal. Because we are not people who can do acrobatics properly, I thought it would be nice to be able to do fascinating things if we had members who could do that. After this, about two days later, they gave the application form for acrobatics lessons to the manager.
Shosei: I signed up, but because we are too busy, I can hardly go (laughs).
Takumi: Shosei is a bit of another level, but I think you both have that drive to take action.
Shosei: Speaking of this, when I studied in America, I only decided one month in advance.
Ren: When I went to Tokyo, I might have decided on it the day before too. I thought “I have to go here tomorrow”.
Takumi: For real? That’s impossible for me! (laughs)

Where could be the origin of their stoicism of them who each one has their own passionate feelings and continues to work hard? When we threw that question at them, they answered “the members”.
Shosei: It’s also part of my personality, but I am inspired by the members each day, so I want to do better. After all, Ren-kun and Takumi-kun are amazing. Their expressions while performing are great and when you listen to their voice base, their singing is also cool. I repeatedly listen to the amazing parts of the members in JO1’s songs, but recently I really like Ren-kun’s “come into” part in “Freedom” and I keep repeating it.
Ren: I was really puzzled about that. Should I use falsetto? Or stretch it? I was worried, but I ended up stretching it (laughs)
Takumi: I am inspired by Junki-kun. Even when there is something awful, he faces it and moves forward for the growth of the team. Also when the practise starts, Junki-kun will say “Yeah Let’s go!” and that’s when I feel that everything starts.
Ren: Junki is the spearhead, isn’t he? In my case, it might be more the member’s existence than one of the members. Originally, I wasn’t a competitive person at all and I was rather the reserved type who didn’t reveal his own wishes. Not sure if I can say it about myself, but I’m quite nimble, so to an extent I was able to do a lot of things. Since I was a child, my parents made me do a lot of things, but I always managed to do them to some extent, so I grew bored and quit… Then, I met a so-called genius who just had started dancing. Besides their history was much shorter than mine and they were younger, they were so good. So, this kind of destroyed the confidence that I had somewhere, and for the first time I thought “I don’t want to lose”. But you can’t win with dancing only. However, if you put together all other aspects but dancing, you might be able to win. Geniuses can beat various people in dancing, but that’s something I can’t do. That might be my origin. I can’t win with just dancing or just singing against the members currently, but if we combine everything, they might think “Ren-kun is amazing”. In the group I’m among the elder brothers, so I don’t want to show an uncool self to my little brothers, so I end up being competitive.

I don’t want to show an uncool self to my little brothers, so I end up being competitive - Kawashiri

These three people are aiming highly while being motivated by the members. A hidden fighting spirit is always burning inside of them.
Takumi: Most recently, I was full of a fighting spirit against myself during “KCON:TACT 4U” (a K-Culture online festival). We performed “Dreaming Night” for the first time, but because it was the first performance I was really nervous. Because it was the first impact or something like a shock, I thought it’s something that it (should) remain inside the viewers. Because I wanted to give that impact, I was burning with a fighting spirit.
Shosei: I recently started to wear an orthodontic mouthpiece. When I take it out, it really hurts. My fighting spirit is burning to find out how to remove it without pain (laughs).
Takumi: I’ve heard his shriek, saying “wah”,“it hurts” when he was removing it at the dresser in the practise room (laughs). Then (I thought) He suddenly started to wear a mouthpiece, too? Well, that’s Shosei’s dynamism! He suddenly looks good? That’s impossible for me!
Ren: I felt my fighting spirit when I thought “As expected from Keigo!” At the talk corner of “KCON:TACT 4U” when we played games a bit, we laughed at the judgement of Sho-kum who was the referee of the first round. When I thought it would be funny to do the same thing in the second round, Keigo told that to Sho-kun with gestures from the sidelines. Sho-kun understood that well and created laughter. When I saw that, I was jealous at Keigo, but at the same time I thought “as expected”.
Takumi: That was funny!

They are like minded people who secretly carry a passionate flame in their hearts. That’s why they had a lively discussion when they talked about what they want to do in the future.
Ren: I’m not good at rapping, but you two are good at it. That’s why I would like to learn it, too, and make a rap song with the three of us.
Takumi: Me too. If it’s the 3 of us, it would be more a hip hop song.
Shosei: As a unit, I want to do a song with a harsh sound.
Takumi: Our rooms are on the same floor and I want to do something in private, too. Yet, you two have an amazing dynamism, so I wonder whether I can keep up.
Ren: Shosei remodeled his veranda and decorated it, didn’t he? He put some artificial grass on it and some kind of hammock.
Takumi: Eh, he remodeled it? The dynamism is amazing!
Shosei: I love to take a walk, but I can’t go out because I don’t have time. On the veranda you can also enjoy it.
Ren: It would be nice to chill with everyone on the veranda. Also, when I can’t sleep, I take a midnight excursion on bicycle. Furthermore, the three of us are the members whose hairstyles changed drastically. I would like to try something that not many other people have done like a neon green.
Shosei: I want to dye my hair black and let it grow again. The atmosphere would change a lot, but it would give an accent to the group, so long black hair!
Takumi: I might be like Shosei. I also want long hair. Or maybe I’ll cut them short. Perm would be nice too.
Ren: Takumi sometimes wears sunglasses with his private fashion and it looks so good on him. That’s why I would like him to wear sunglasses on stage, too.
Shosei: I think you two would look good in sunglasses and I want you to wear those on stage!

Self Liner Notes (all members)

REAL
Shosei: The theme is “to meet a new you”, so I hope to show that we are more powerful than before. In the MV we are dancing ravenously, too, which is really cool and I think the quality of the MV is higher than ever. The highlight of the MV is the part when Mame-chan, Shion and I come together. This and also my weapon of the deep and breathy rap are expressed best in “REAL”.
Ren: In the last chorus there is a dance when two of us come together which is really noteworthy. The theme of meeting the unknown is expressed in the dancing and the lyrics, so I hope you will check it out. Regarding the singing and how to vocalise it, there are still things I fail at, but my voice trainer told me “Your way of singing is something that steadily changes”. I will train more and become better!
Takumi: There is the story of finally reaching your imagined future and dreams, and we sing it with the feeling we are not alone and together with all JAM we finally reach a wonderful future. I’m in charge of starting the song, but I think more than ever I got into the mood. So that we can give an impact we did some trial and error with the songs and performances, so I hope you will pay attention to it.
Syoya: The JO1 members, each one had their own dreams since before the audition. There were a lot of members who weren’t able to follow their dreams like they hoped to. Finally, we made our debut and we started working on the dream of aiming for the world. It’s a song that reaffirms that. In the MV we are dancing while facing a rotating high speed camera, but the spec of the camera changed midway, so it was difficult to look cool. My eyes are rolling. (laughs)
Sukai: In the chorus of this song there is the “dun dun dun dun dun”. Our usual dance instructor thought of a change in the choreography fitting to this. I quite like it. The MV has the concept of meeting and mirrors and I think people will really enjoy it. Furthermore, my way of singing “This is no dream, so real”. Please make sure to pay attention to this. It’s cool (laughs)
Junki: The hope to make our imagined dreams and our goals, our unrealistic dreams and our huge dreams real by our own effort and hard work. Also, there is the message that JO1 wants to be like this. There is the choreography that expresses that we face ourselves in the mirror, but there is the image that the self you see in the mirror isn’t a dream but something that is real, too, so please pay attention to it.
Keigo: “REAL” has the concept (seeing) you in the mirror, but for me it’s a song about reflecting and creating your ideal self. I really like performance and I worked hard to bring out sexiness. I watched the performances of various artists, trained while watching myself in the mirror and researched expressions, facial expressions and how to bring out my voice. The highlight is the choreo when I’m hugging Mame-chan!
Ruki: I think it’s a song that brings out a new colour of JO1. There is quite a lot of rapping and on the dance side surprisingly there are fewer parts when everyone is dancing together. Impressive is also that there are many parts where one by one the pairs change and dance. The lyrics of the song depict the way we spend time worrying and growing to reach our dreams and it’s a positive song that pushes you forward. It feels like our current “real”.
Shion: Compared to before, it’s a song with a lot of rap parts. At the very end of the song the members become 2 member pairs and sing, but we also dance in these pairs. It’s something that JO1 hasn’t done before, but the dance itself was quite new too, so I hope that people will think it’s something fresh. I might say it each time a single is released, but it’s new JO1 different from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd (single).
Issei: In the “REAL” MV, scenes when the members are reflected in the mirror or on the water surface are used. Personally, there is a part at the end of the chorus when there is only the sound of the chorus and I think the dance at this part is the highlight. It’s cool and neat to see how many sounds are taken up in the dance and how we are performing all together, so I hope you will pay attention to it.
Sho: Since the debut we are always continuing to challenge, and after releasing the album “The STAR”, we thought we completed the first stage with the 3rd single “Born To Be Wild”, and this song that is the lead track of “STRANGER” has lyrics to let you find yourself that has never been here before. I would be happy if you could relate to what we sing about and to the excitement of there are still a lot of things waiting for you ahead.

Freedom
Shion: It's a song that is meant to fascinate as the theme song for the CM of “LIBRE” from YSL BEAUTY. The dance might surpass “Speed of Light” which was our most difficult one until now (bitter laughing). However, in a part of a chorus there is a dance that only uses the legs and it might be easy to imitate by the viewers. There, we are dancing sexily so please pay attention to our facial expressions, too.
Issei: Following the title “Freedom” became a song that includes the message that JO1 gave various possibilities. It’s the perfect melody for YSL BEAUTY’s “LIBRE” for which it is the theme song. Also, the dance of the song has the most place changes. There are formation changes that make you think “They are changing again!?”, so for us it became a song that requires a lot of stamina not only for dancing but also for moving (laughs).

STAY
Syoya: When I heard the song, I thought it’s a song that could be used in a Pocari Sweat CM (laughs). A kind of nostalgic feeling… I think it’s human that you want fun times to continue like this forever, so it’s a song that expresses that. Also when I take pictures, i ask people to stay at a good place and them. What I want to last forever is the time before sleeping. I want to be asleep all the time (laughs).
Ruki: I thought it’s a summer song and I felt that the expression of capturing this one moment on camera seemed cute. The shutter sound is included here and there, but I sing the part when I click the shutter and (sing) “click, that’s nice”. I love theme parks, but the whole time was fun when I went for a job to USJ with the members and I didn’t want this time to end (laughs).

Dreaming Night
Junki: That song is really good. I love it! It’s the opening song for the drama “Love Phantom”, but it’s a sweet song that doesn’t lose to the sweetness of the drama. The theme of “Even in my dreams I always want to be with you” is cute, isn’t it? The choreography is also very cute, so I hope you will imitate it. When the song was played in the drama, I was really surprised and happy.
Sho: Actually, we recorded the song quite eine time ago. That’s why our way of singing is a little different from the other featured songs. After all, when the recordings pile up your way of singing and your skill change, but that song is really catchy and it’s a different way of singing than usually in a good way, so I think it’s a song that has a presence. The choreography is really cute, and even in the middle of the choreo everyone is super excited (laughs).

ICARUS
Shosei: Takumi’s wing part in the beginning is really cool and with the 11 members we form a big wing, so I would be happy if you pay attention to this part of the performance. I really like to add my own rhythm to the rap parts. I did the same this time, but when I relistened to it once more, I understood that “next time I should try it like this” so I felt like I can still grow!
Ren: This song is the answer song to “MONSTAR” which was featured on “The STAR” and I hope you pay attention to the lyrics. The point of the performance is after all the wing-like choreography. In the first chorus there is the flow from me to Takumi, but our surroundings often say that our voices are similar. This time we practised and tried out a lot, so I think we are both getting more powerful.
Takumi: I’m in charge of starting the song, too, but I tried various things. Speaking of the performance, there is the part that starts from the face down and then it’s raised, but I was particular about the details of whether I should raise my head slowly or quickly. The choreographer advised me “the atmosphere comes better out when you do it slowly” and I’m singing it in my own arrangement, so please pay attention to it.

Blooming Again
Sukai: I think it’s a song where the heartfelt strength in the lyrics is carried by the melody. I sing the beginning of the song, but when I sang it like I wanted to, the songwriter told me “that’s good.”. But the songwriter is someone who talks directly, so it was a little scary… I did my best (laughs) . I'm nervous about starting the song, but I’m happy. Also, what’s the best is the phrase “remember it the main character is you” that Takumi sings!
Keigo: I feel that in the chorus the message of “You can shine if you freely do the things you want and what you like” and I really like that. If I apply that to myself, joining the audition had been my choice, but it was also selfish… but because of this I can shine and “my dreams” and “bright days” are expanding. It’s a song that made me feel once again that I have to work hard on my chosen way.

Talking about JO1

A corner where one thinks and talks about JO1 from a third party’s perspective. Suzuki Fuku, who was shocked by one of their pre-debut performances talks about the member’s characters and charms, and Kazuki (s**t kingz) who has choreographed for countless artists in Japan and abroad talks about JO1’s dancing.

Suzuki Fuku
An actor who has appeared in a lot of movies, dramas and stage plays. Born on 2004.6.17. Appears in the “Saber + Zenkaiger: Super Hero Senki" that celebrates the 50th anniversary of Kamen Raider and the 45th one of Super Sentai.

I want them to become more and more famous worldwide.

“The passion of JO1’s fans is amazing”. The one who said that is the known actor Suzuki Fuku who likes JO1. He recommended JO1’s songs at various places, commented on instagram livestreams and sent off passionate cheering like JAM. We asked him about JO1’s charms while he said "It's still a long way to go for me".

The occasion for me to start liking JO1 was “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN”. Actually, I didn’t watch it from the start, only the last 3 episodes. Because it had become a popular topic somehow, I thought about starting to watch it, but what shocked me was the final performance that I watched in real time. “It’s amazing that they haven’t even debuted yet.” I thought that these members were already amazing, but a group formed by members once again chosen from these would be (even more) amazing and that’s when I started to support JO1. Auditions like “PRODUCE 101” and “PRODUCE48” were popular, so at the time of the debut they were widely featured and popular. However, naturally the debut song (attracted attention), but I think it’s amazing that also the next song (Oh-Eh-Oh) and the one afterwards (Shine A Light) attracted attention. Of course the songs and the members are cool, but they are not losing to the original “PRODUCE 101”... I’m not sure whether this way of saying fits, but I think that’s because even after their debut, their humor in variety programs, each one’s unique personality and charm manifested.
I appeared along with the members on TV programs and events various times. The first ones I met were Kawashiri Ren-kun and Kono Junki-kun and back then I told them directly “I’m your fan”. Both of them were really polite and kind and what you see in TV programs and videos is just like they are. I haven’t decided on who is my favorite member, but in the beginning I especially thought that Tsurubo Shion-kun is cool and when I met him for the first time, my heart was beating so fast “Shion is here!” (laughs). One time I met all JO1 members at TGC, when I went to greet them backstage, Sato Keigo-kun danced “Maru Maru Mori Mori”. This made me so happy.
TN: This song is a children's song, released in 2011 which was performed by Suzuki Fuku and Ashida Mana who were both child actors at that time.
By the way, my favourite songs are “YOUNG” and “OH-EH-OH”. JO1 has various kinds of songs, but if I had to choose I like the ones with just cool styling and a cool dance. Even for me as a man, the gap of JO1’s usual soft personality and their cool and stylish feeling when they are performing is charming. Especially Kimata Syoya-kun is such a soft person but very masculine on stage. Because I don’t really have a masculine image, I admire him. It’s not just me, but also at school there are a lot of guys who like JO1. Everyone is saying that their performances and songs are really cool. To be honest, I started to take dance lessons about half a year ago. I like singing and I started to think that it would be nice to be able to dance too, but actually I’m thinking “I want to dance as cool as JO1”. I thought it’s because there are a lot of choreographies I want to imitate, but if I actually try to do them, I can’t do it as cool as them… I truly felt how amazing JO1 is afterall. That I started to dance was right at the time when “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN SEASON2” started and when I saw them working hard, it felt like they inspired me. It’s the same (how I feel) towards JO1. It’s not something you can just devote yourself to because someone tells you to. I also like acting and singing and dancing which I started recently, and there are a lot of other things that I like or want to do, so once more I thought I want to devote myself to those as seriously as them.
In my school there are friends who like JO1 and I always talk with them about JO1, but I hope that around me the number of people who I can talk to about JO1 increases. They have already won an award abroad, but I want them to become more and more famous worldwide. I’m always watching JO1’s activities and they make me think “I have to do my best, too.”

Kazuki
A member of the dance performance group s**t kingz and he has created the choreographies for songs of Nissy, EXO-CBX, Da-iCE and more. The “s**t kingz Dance Live 2021 ~ Just weird guys who love dancing~ (literal translation of the tour title) will take place on September 16~20 in the Kanagawa Kannai Hall big hall and on October 1~3 in the Osaka Morinomiya Piloti Hall

As a group JO1 embodies the ideal performance.

The performance style of JO1 has attracted the attention of professional dancers and choreographers, as they are a big group with 11 members and all of them are also vocalists. Kazuki, a member of the dance performance group s**t kingz who hasn’t just choreographed for artists in Japan but also for K-POP artists, has high hopes for their performances.

What I thought when I was watching JO1’s performances was that they seem to get along well. Performing with a huge number of people can be a weapon in the point of impact and power, yet it’s also something really difficult. Even when you think about it simply, when matching two people and matching 11 people, 11 people will be more difficult. Also, if the movements are the same but the mood is off, it won’t look neat, but in the case of JO1 it’s nothing like that. I don’t know how they normally practise, but for example if a choreographer is constantly watching them to every detail, they won’t do well until everyone agrees on “Here I want to show this”. Generally speaking, to align the mood, practising with everyone and agreeing on what to do in the scene is really important, so I think they all practise together and I think it’s ideal that the members get along well with each other. Another thing is, that it might be a big factor that they were made from a korean style audition. In the audition, the team performance was one of the things that were judged. Moreover, the team members and team composition change with the judging and because it was an audition you couldn’t stand out all alone but you had to win with your team. During this, a consciousness as a team… the importance of cooperation is something you discover. I think that the attitude of “practising as one team” that was fostered back then, is kept alive like this in JO1. It’s good that they are not like a machine in that regard, isn’t it? If you look at them from the bird’s eye perspective, in their movements each one’s individuality comes out while they are doing a clean performance that’s not out of sync. As a group they embody the ideal performance.
Speaking from the standpoint of a choreographer, I have the impression that each time they use formations well. Especially because all 11 members are also singing, it is easy to get bored if you put one of them in the center one by one. In this case, JO1 doesn’t just expand from the middle, they use the depths, shift the point of view from left to right and suddenly one person from this big group becomes the main character, these kind of variations are plenty. Each one’s coolness adds to this, so each time I’m excited “What could come next?”. Before you notice it the song is over. It feels like watching a story and you don’t get bored. I think it’s this ability that attracts people even if they don’t know much about singing or dancing, they can think “that’s kinda cool” or “that’s kinda amazing”. Also, their choreographies are catchy but also precise. In this era, it’s very important to be catchy, but especially the easiest movements need a good dancer to be done well, so a catchy choreo is actually difficult. Also, if it is just catchy, it will lose its coolness. I think that especially because JO1’s choreographies balance this accurately, and they have the skills to express it, they attract so many people. Speaking of “Dreaming Night” that has a recently released practise video, the movements are rapid, but the members don’t seem busy. Of course I think there is also the skill of the choreographer, but even when there are a lot of movements, in order not to look busy, it’s not enough for the members just to move around. It’s necessary to align the timing of the movement and landing, that the movement before is clean, that the pace is steady and so on… I think the power each of them has can complete the formation that the choreographer has intended.
By the way, if I did a choreography for JO1.. I would like to make something sexy. They have a pop image, so without damaging this merit and the way they are, I would like to show new different expressions that they didn’t have before. With a big number of people, you can create the form of various things. For example, 10 people form a bed and one of them lies down on it. You can create a set and stages just with the members, so I would want to make use of that, too. If there are 11 of these cool guys, it can become something really cool.
When I hear “JO1 has released a new song”, I’m always excited “What will come this time?”. Of course, the fans might be like this, too. It’s JO1 who each time makes you excited and doesn't betray the expectations, so I’m convinced that the fans are increasing steadily. I’m a dancer myself, so I’m really happy to see artists like JO1 who focus on performances. So, I hope for them to become a group who charms more and more people worldwide in the future.

Q: In this work, what kind of JO1 did you want to portray?
If the singles and the album in 2020 highlighted the innocence of young boys chasing their dreams, from 2021 on we want to show a JO1 that has grown from boys into young men. They are already shining, but they don’t remain at this place, they continue to advance towards a new world without being afraid of the challenges. In “STRANGER”, we tried to show that while they are exploring, adventuring in a different world, they discover a different self through unfamiliar situations and their experiences. There is also that meeting the “me” in a new world, can feel like meeting an unknown person, but by facing this unknown “me”, you achieve change and progress, and the colours that JO1 shows become diverse.
Q: How do you see the member’s approach towards their music?
Let’s say it is as if the young boys who were innocent are creating their own colors. It looks like that on their own they look for what could suit them while coming in contact with a lot of music. I can see them having moved from just singing the song, to trying to understand the song on their own, wavering about what kind of songs they want to sing and create and wavering what kind of music would fit not just to themselves but also to JO1, and I feel like from the heart they are really trying to get close to the music.

Choreographer

Q: Please tell us about the dance for the songs featured in this piece of work.
“REAL” is a performance that expresses an invisible dream and a reality that actually unfolds. As a point, there is the scene when the members hug each other and when they hug, they do it with one hand during the lyrics “dream” but change it to both hands during the lyrics “real”. It expresses that it’s not a dream, it’s real and the feeling that you and I want to be together. And, my personal favourite “ICARUS” has the concept of a butterfly flying freely. It is planned with the idea of the members who had been trainees. shedding their pupa skin and fly freely on the stage using their wings and also in the performance the wings are portrayed, I think you will enjoy the performance watching the members grow as artists on stage.
Q: What did you keep in mind while creating JO1’s dance?
I think JO1 is a group in which you can easily understand each one’s charm. It’s not simply a sword dance group (a group in which the choreography is in sync) in which 11 people dance the same, but the individual colors are different and well harmonised. When I made the dance, I looked at the singing parts before and I created the choreography with a sense of the member in charge of this part thinking of how to express the song well.
Q: How do you see the member’s approach towards their dancing? They made a big growth as an artist while experiencing the production of new works, and each time I see them in lessons, I’m surprised. Seeing them growing while respecting the choreographer and the production staff and searching for their very own colours, the “desire” to come up with new JO1 performances appears each time. In the case it’s hard to coach or do the lesson at the location, Ren and Issei do most of the choreography lessons, but this is a really hard and difficult work. Each time, I am thankful for Ren and Issei for controlling the scene so well and even though they are also members, I think it’s the other members believing in them, that it became that their performances have such a high degree of perfection.

Q: In the song you made, what is portrayed?
I wanted to portray a boy standing in a fresh green landscape with flower petals dancing in the air. In order to record the brilliant now, you ‘click’ and press the shutter because this moment right now is too fleeting, but a picture is eternal. Likewise, also as a songwriter, I tackled this piece with the idea of leaving a song with the image of the JO1 members singing with the voice of a young boy at his most shining and beautiful time. I hope it becomes a song that is like a present that comes into the mind of the members and their fans. It was the first time that I worked with JO1, but I was surprised by their vocal abilities. They expressed it sweetly, and made the best of the strengths and the atmosphere of the song. I hope you will listen to each part of the song, while carefully investigating the harmony of the warm and beautiful lyrics and the delicate singing of the members who express those.
Q: Please tell us about your impression of JO1 that you got via this work?
It was the first time working with JO1 and because our languages were different, I was a little worried about doing the direction during the recording, but I’m thankful to all members for their good and hard work and my satisfaction is bigger than ever. Especially, that instead of “That’s good”, they said “(Let’s do) Another take, another one” and focused on their parts until they got the desired results, left a deep impression on me.

in charge of the music and arrangement of “ICARUS”

Q: What is portrayed in “ICARUS”?
It’s a work that I made in cooperation with SKINNER BOX who I had worked with for MONSTAR. As the title says, just like wings of Icarus the meaning is “Even if my two wings melt, I will be rushing to you right now” and like JO1’s greeting (GO TO THE TOP JO1), I wanted to portray JO1 soaring high into the sky without hesitating to take the win whether it be love or their dreams. When I created the beat, I personally imagined Ren-kun’s dance line. I like his delicate expressions. I wanted to portray a graceful and controlled dance line over a strong beat and in the hook of the song they finally become a butterfly and take a flight. The song became better than I imagined it and I felt how hard they had worked on preparing it. Ah! Speaking of this, right before the first chorus, please listen carefully to Ruki-kun’s 君のもとへ (towards you). During the recording, after several takes, we told him “(Do it) with the intention of telling it to the fans” and he sang like this. We used the take after telling him this, so I hope you will feel his thoughts when listening to his singing.
Q: What do you feel in terms of the members' evolution?
I feel that all the members have grown to a surprising amount each time we record. This time, the most impressive thing was that before the recording Ren-kun had studied the meaning of Icarus and interpreted it. I was moved when I heard that. Also, Syoya-kun changed the rap flow on the day of the recording after the request from the composers, but I’m thankful that after many takes and hard work, he excellently completed the rap. Sukai-kun and Shion-kun who cheered for Syoya from the side and helped him were also really cool.

in charge of the lyrics, music and arrangement of “REAL”
e.one
Q: What is portrayed in REAL?
It’s a song that begins with the thought “Rather than showing the word the ‘result’ of effort, how about showing the ‘process’?" I wanted to portray the story of not “me”, but “us” growing up and who we are now. Also, I think that the dream of the members and the fans is continuing and growing at this time. Based on this matter, in terms of sound, I tried to express a feeling of peace and fullness instead of excitement and opulents.
Q: What do you feel in terms of the members' evolution?
I was in charge of recording with JO1 for the song “Design” that was featured on the single “CHALLENGER” for the first time, but everyone’s manners were good and in every aspect I got a good impression, including their attitude towards the recording. This time, the progress of the song happened online and unfortunately, I wasn’t able to meet the members directly, but despite the song has a different feeling than “Design”, they completed it well and seeing them passionately engaging with it convinced me that they are a good group now but you can expect more from them in the future.

in charge of music and arrangement of “Blooming Again”
Lee Min-Young (EastWest)
Q: In the song you made, what is portrayed?
On the sound side, I wanted to bring out a rock feeling. I try to express more energy than in common ballads, a rockish rhythm, a lyricial guitar sound, and I played the guitar myself to give it more of a feeling of love. From the message point of view, the basic concept was “hope”, “overcoming” and “comfort”, but that said, I worked with a focus on the lyrical and emotional aspects rather than a completely bright impression. I hope that the listener will admire it while feeling the ups and downs, starting from the quietly starting intro to the with energy exploding ending. I think Junki’s and Ren’s adlibs in the final chorus are very fascinating.
Q: What do you feel in terms of the members' evolution?
Basically I think all members have wonderful skills as singers and performance power. They are 11 people who survived a fierce competition, so they are equipped with basic talents, but I feel they constantly try to develop those. What I’m feeling as a writer who has worked with them since their debut piece, is the evident effort that the more they keep on releasing music, the more they eliminate bad habits and create conditions that allow them to show off their abilities.

[OWV] Excite 210330

https://www.excite.co.jp/news/article/Jprime_20472/

Their interactions with JO1? We frankly asked OWV coming from an audition program about the group's strengths

Please tell us your strengths and each one's character!
Kosuke: We are a 4 member dance vocal mass.
Katsunari: A mass -laughs-
Kosuke: Each one’s own individual character is absolutely different, but when we perform we become one. I think we have this kind of charm.
Katsunari: Speaking of individuality, Shuta has the side that he can do everything skillfully and he is funny. I’m the type who doesn’t awake laughing when talking and I’m the one who ends up feeling down -laughs-
Shuta: Because that’s not the case!!! Other than that, I’m bright and make the place become exciting.
Kosuke: Because it’s better not to say it yourself -laughs-
Katsunari: He is like the lubricating oil of the group -laughs-
Shuta: Fumiya is the coolest one of the group. But, actually he likes comedy and our comedy sense is similar, so we often fool around. Also, he leads the group with dancing. He is the only B-type in the group (all other members are A type), so also in the aspect of personality he is different in a good way.
Fumiya: Honda-kun is the leader who leads the group as the oldest member. He has deep sympathy and in a sense he’s a player. Also in the aspect of performances he takes the initiative in moving and giving lectures. And he gives appropriate advice. He is someone who moves the team into the right direction.
Kosuke: Katsunari changes his personality when he plays games.
Shuta: The first thing you mention, is that?
Kosuke: He is always cool, but when he is excited he will say with a loud voice “it's come, it has come!!”
Katsunari: I was that loud?
Kosuke: You were -laughs- Normally, it feels like he does things properly and overlooks the members. For example, even when we exchange our opinions, he takes suggestions in between those. I think it’s good that he has that side that he can switch on and off properly during playful times and serious times.

About the charm of the 3rd single “Roar”
Katsunari: It’s a song chosen by everyone among various others, but when I heard it, I could imagine that the track was the newest, most stylish and how we perform it.
Shuta: Just like me!!
Fumiya: I also felt that it’s a contemporary song. Also, simply, the dancing has become intense looking -laughs- The previous single “Ready Set Go” was like that, too, but the famous Korean dance team LOOK thought of this choreography for us.
Shuta: It's really really intense dancing!!
Fumiya: Everyone is always moving.
Shuta: Because the choreography was done with the image of a lion this time, in order to look animal-like, our centroid is low. That’s why, at first it felt like muscle training -laughs- however now, I’m used to it.
Katsunari: My favourite lyrics are in the part that Fumiya sings. “I will not be contained” and “If there is no path, you can make one” This expressed the group OWV. Kosuke: In the debut song “UBA UBA” there are the lyrics “I’m a fighter” and there is the message “Let’s crawl up” used in the title song of the second single. I like that.

On the day of the group formation April 11th, the first oneman will take place.
Kosuke: (Because of the influence of COVID-19) it’s the first time that we can directly meet the fans since the formation. In a good way, I want to create a stage that betrays the expectations and I’m trying to tell everyone what I’m thinking about each day, so I’m doing it by trial and error now.
Shuta: Last year on September 30 we debuted and we were able to release 3 singles and finally we do our own live. I wonder whether I can go on with this great vigour. Fumiya: Let’s go on!! Previously, I couldn’t understand it, but let’s move forward with the current feelings!!
Shuta: Yes!! We were able to do our own namesake show on GYAO! and during this I shouted “This year’s OWV will taste different!”. I want to continue without forgetting this.
Fumiya: Right now, you forget more than anyone else -laughs-
Katsunari: -laughs- Since the group formation we were together pretty much everyday, so we became close.
Kosuke: So much that we think it might be okay not to meet for some time -laughs-

How are the interactions with JO1 who come from the same audition program and are from the same agency?
Kosuke: We are often in contact. When we release a new song, messages come and previously we went to eat together.
Shuta: Some time ago, Ruki listened to one of the coupling songs and sent me a message saying it’s cool. Ren-kun and Fumiya exchange messages about dancing.
Fumiya: That’s right. There are songs which I choreographed. When the video was uploaded, he sent me a message. When there is choreography that I also like, I ask “here, is that choreography (good)? the ad lip?” I often talk especially to the JO1 members who are close in age to us.

OWV • Nakagawa Katsunari “The blonde hair that I had during the audition program was a failure”

The boys group OWV was formed by 4 members who gathered attention during “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN”. On CLASSY.ONLINE the 4 members appear who have been drawing attention by performance power that was formed by working their way up slowly and their playful characters that are unique to Yoshimoto. They formed the group after taking the challenge at “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN”. We thoroughly asked about the reasons not to give up their dreams which had ups and downs. This time it’s the turn for OWV’s healing character Nakagawa Katsunari.

Towards the debut after experiencing the bottom. The key to gasp your dream?
If I had to sum it up, it might be “acknowledge what you really want to do and take action”. Besides wanting to join the entertainment world since middle school, I wasn’t able to act accurately because of the awkwardness from puberty. Without a change, I reached my final year of university and I was on the verge of deciding whether I should search for a job. Thus, I started to take part in big agencies and joined auditions. Especially in the case of entertainment work, if you live normally, you will barely have any contact with it and without actions you can’t gasp this dream. I think the fact that I was able to acknowledge what I wanted to do and act diligently led to this result.
However, to be honest, I have some dark history of those actions -laughs- when I appeared at the audition program I thought that people who stand out are able to remain, so I participated with blonde hair. Since the training camp for the audition was in South Korea, I forgot to use the silver shampoo that maintains blonde hair and I wasn’t able to get some there, so it became quite questionable blonde hair… I was enthusiastic, but it turned out to be the opposite -laughs-

Soon it will be one year since the debut. What is an event that left an impression on you?
In this one year, I think everyone got to know about me being clumsy. It left an impression that from a big clumsiness to small clumsiness, I got caught on through the YouTube videos. If you want to know more, please check our official YouTube account.
Recently, it was also revealed that I wash my hands with brown mouthwash. When I washed my hands at the agency, and thought “it’s not foaming…” it was unexpectedly mouthwash. Also, in the past when I went to a quite good restaurant, got coleslaw as a starter, thought “wow that’s delicious” and ate everything on the spot, the boss told me “next, comes the tartar sauce for the fried food!” Besides, debuting my original self didn’t change much and each day I’m aware that I’m clumsy.
TN: coleslaw is a side dish not a starter when eating fried food.

What is the most striking point of the 3rd single “Roar”? Please tell us the inside stories of the recording!
The rap is good, too, but I definitely want you to listen to the singing! The main track “Roar” means “吠える” (to roar). In the lyrics there is a beast like character and it became a track that has the image of overwhelming people. In order to express that with my voice, I was very particular about vocalizing with various paces. The featured songs of this single were chosen from about 100 song candidates. Each track is surely cool and has a full impact. There is nothing but songs that are trendy, so please listen to them.
Speaking of inside stories of the recordings, there was a small incident. The floor of the warehouse-like shooting side for the title track “Roar” was really wet either due water or oil. Maybe it was in order to add an atmosphere or a nuance and I thought it was wet on purpose, but because of that an incident broke out! The dance of “Roar” has a beast like choreography and your center of balance is quite low. The lower it is, the more everyone slipped and the more NGs happened after another… I might have even ended up touching the floor already. There were so many NGs that I want to release a NG scene collection -laughs-

[OWV] Natalie.music 210311

https://natalie.mu/music/column/419240/page/2#heading-5

10 years ago, it was the middle school graduation ceremony for the 15 year old me. If it had been like always, I would have played with my friends and returned home, but for some reason everyone went home without playing.
When I was playing a game with my siblings, the earthquake warning sounded on the mobile phones.

When I first heard that sound curiosity was stronger than fear and together with my siblings I laughed and said “What’s that”.
But right afterwards, a shaking that I have never experienced before began and I understood what the previous sound meant.

Before I realised it, my body moved on its own and right away together with my siblings I more or less opened the door of the house and my family managed to get outside uninjured.

At this time I realised the importance of disaster drills I did in elementary school.

Even when we were outside, the shaking continued.
Parking cars were shaking violently, the windows of the building broke in one movement, the fences of the houses collapsed on the roads and also cars couldn’t move.
In my home everything collapsed like the cupboards and various things were broken.

What was truly hard, was what happened afterwards. Because of the collapsing of the roads, it came to troubles with the food supply and the food vanished from conbinis and supermarkets.
Also, when the explosion of the nuclear plant and the tsunami was shown on TV, there was a lot of anxiety and I thought “What will happen in the future?”

10 years since then.
When I see “3.11” on March 11, I will remember this for sure.

Since coming to Tokyo at the age of 18, I wasn’t able to give something back to Fukushima, but after moving to Tokyo for the first time I was involved as a choreographer in the Great Northeastern Japan earthquake event “Fukkonsai” that is held in Fukushima every year.
At this time, I once again understood that there are many people from Fukushima and from outside the prefecture who make an effort to support the reconstruction to enliven Fukushima. At the same time as feeling the significance of the earthquake through those people, I also realised that there are some places where the reconstruction hasn’t been completed yet, that there are people who still live in temporary housing and I saw that temporary housing with my own eyes. I came to understand that while I didn’t notice it had calmed down inside of me, it was still the same as before.

The damage caused by rumors is not as extreme as it was back then, but I still feel that we might be still not as accepted as we used to be.

During my Highschool years when there was a lot of damage caused by rumours because of the nuclear plant. I still often remember the one time when I boarded a Shinkansen from Fukushima and just accidentally touching a seat a little with my bag, was regarded as if something harmful touched them and it was whipped right in front of my eyes.
There might be people who think of that as something impossible, but back then the image from Fukushima had become that bad.

Since then I’m working while searching for something that I could do. I think “if I become famous, I will make Fukushima’s image better” and I want to convey “Fukushima is such a good place”. Also, the feeling has become strong that I want to be helpful with the reconstruction.

What I can do is still limited, but if there are people who pay attention to my essay and if you learn a little more about Fukushima, I feel like I was able to grow a little since then.

I think if there are people who think it’s been 10 years since the Great Northeastern Japan earthquake already, there are also people who think it’s been only 10 years since the Great Northeastern Japan earthquake.
However, even after 10 years have passed, there are still a lot of things we can do now. Of course, you can say that not only regarding Fukushima but also for the victims of various other places and disaster areas.

I think that we can understand and support each other a little more just by knowing even a bit about the disaster areas and doing what we can do even if it is small and just thinking about it.
Furthermore, I myself also would like to continue to do what I can for my hometown and beloved Fukushima.

Interview with OWV's Urano Shuta and Sano Fumiya! "Since becoming part of the group I was able to discover new sides of myself"

Q1: Since debuting on September 30 last year with the single “UBA UBA”, what left an impression on you or what kind of change did you feel?
Shuta: The most memorable event was OWV’s first online live concert which took place on December 27th last year. Also since we made our debut we couldn’t stand in front of our fans because of the corona pandemic and there was something online, but after all lives are the main axis as an artist, thus it stays in my heart. We were able to show a lot of songs and performances, and we also did a talk corner, thus it was so much fun!
Fumiya: If I talk about changes, it’s that I came to understand myself more… Before making the debut, the fans who supported us since the audition program were each on their own. But by becoming a group, I can see and hear about the image of OWV’s Sano Fumiya from a wider range now, for example how I’m seen by Shuta’s fans, so it became easier to grasp “ah! I’m seen like this.”
Shuta: Was there something unexpected?
Fumiya: Since I became a member of OWV, people started to call me something like “cute”. No one ever told me that, so I was a little surprised -laughs-
Shuta: Sano is cool, but recently you can get a glimpse of his cute side.
Fumiya: Katsu-kun and Shuta are tall, so when I’m sandwiched between them, I think I end up being something like “cute”...
Shuta: That’s right. Like a mascot -laughs-
Fumiya: I think there is also some messing around with me being “cute”, but I feel like that I discovered a new side that I had never thought of.

The goal is to become a long-loved group

Q2: What is OWV’s strength?
Shuta: It’s the point that we are easy to remember after the first glance, because all hair colours are different. We have red, blue, yellow and black. Even when you can’t remember the names and faces right away, OWV can leave an impression.
Fumiya: Even the staff calls us by colours -laughs- Also, our strength is that we know defeat. And, because we are 4 people who experienced failure at the program, even when we are facing a new wall, we have the mind that we can overcome it.
Shuta: Even when we fail, we won’t be depressed.
Fumiya: All 4 members are like that.
Shuta: However, we might be the two most positive ones -laughs-

Q3: What is popular in the group right now?
Shuta: Hm~ taking pictures secretly?
Fumiya: ahahahah!
Shuta: It’s often that we end up becoming nervous and we are not able to show our natural sides on camera, but we usually do weird things. Because we think that it could be funny if those things are recorded, we are having fun by secretly recording it. We shoot in a dokkiri/ hidden camera style and threaten (the other members) -laughs- We watch and laugh about those videos together.
Fumiya: But we are completely free, so there is zero audience.
Shuta: Also today at the make up room of the studio, I secretly took a picture of Fumiya eating.
Fumiya: I was secretly shoot when eating an Onigiri -laughs-

Q4: What kind of OWV’s charms will be packed into the 3rd single “Roar” that is released on March 31st?
Fumiya: It’s a “that’s OWV” song. I feel that we can showcase power, a mischievous feeling and the provoking atmosphere of 4 people (saying) “Let’s do this!” as much as we want.
Shuta: The strong feeling that we can reach the submit in our own way is included.
Fumiya: In the lyrics, there are the words “I will not be contained”, but just as stated we want to become a unique group.”
Shuta: Also the choreography became a wild and intense dance with the motive of a lion. It was the hardest one until now -laughs-
Fumiya: Please watch the 4 members' overwhelming performances!

Q5: Please tell us about your goals and dreams either as OWV or your personal ones.
Shuta: After all. We want to do an actual live at the Budokan and not online. And one day, doing a performance in front of the people who love us at an arena or dome. Furthermore, we want to become a group that is long loved.
Fumiya: That’s right. As a group what Shuta has said is the collective will. Personally… I think my current distinctive characteristic and impression have a strong image of dancing. That’s why, I would like to be able to acquire various skills and lead the group in terms of dancing so that people will say “He’s almighty, isn’t he?”.

Their specialty in chores is “cleaning”. Both like it clean!

Q6: Please tell us about Sano’s true nature.
Shuta: Unexpectedly Fumiya is a big eater. He is usually cool about it, but when he says “I can eat a lot today”, it will be easy to understand (why) and he gets excited -laughs- Of course that’s when there is Yakiniku or other delicious food in front of him, but when there is a lot, he will smile. It’s Quantity over Quality.
Fumiya: The quantity is important -laughs- I have the smallest stature of the members, but I’m the biggest eater by far. If it’s Pizza, I end up eating 2 L sized ones.
Shuta: Isn’t that the amount for 8 people? In the later half of your 20s, people might say something like “Fumiya, you really gained weight!” Then, you should join ESSE’s diet special feature.
Fumiya: Please take care of me -laughs-
TN: it depends on the store but a L size Pizza has a diameter of about 33 cm.

Q7: Please tell us about Urano’s true nature.
Fumiya: Shuta is stoic about comedy. For example, when I watch videos of various artists to raise my spirits before performing, just he watches videos of Kato Cha and Nishikawa Kiyoshi.
Shuta: True -laughs- Of course, I’m also watching performance videos, but right now I want to polish my comedy sense. I have loved old fashioned comedy since my childhood.
Fumiya: He is the type who is good in entertaining and soothing people, and making them trust him, isn’t he?
TN: Kato Cha is a Japanese comedian, actor and drummer of the band/comedy group ‘The Drifters’ currently signed under Izawa Office.
Nishikawa Kiyoshi is a Japanese comedian, actor and former politician. He was part of the House of Councillors (the upper house) from 1986-2004, but now he has resumed his entertainment career. Signed under Yoshimoto Kogyo.
They were both born in the 1940s.

Q8: Please tell us about your speciality in chores.
Fumiya: I’m pretty much cleaning every day. I’m using the vacuum cleaner, the lint roller and the ventilation. I’m also cleaning the water drops on the mirror in my bathroom with a special wiper.
Shuta: I’m also often cleaning my room. I like to keep things tidy and in order. I hang my favourite hats on the wall and fold all those shop paper bags neatly -laughs-

Q9: How do you normally spend your free days?
Fumiya: When I just started living alone, when I wanted to make Ochazuke, it ended up becoming something like a risotto. This absolutely broke my heart -laughs- (That’s why) I’m not cooking by myself, so the time when I think “What should I eat today~” and search for takeout on my smartphone is happiness. Because after all, eating is what I enjoy the most.
Shuta: Breaks are to polish yourself I think. Recently, I steadily use oil based skin lotion, serums, body milk and skin care and everyday I drink 2 liters of water. I started to do massages and yoga to rest my body!
TN: Ochazuke is a japanese dish made by pouring green tea over cooked rice. Common toppings include pickles, umeboshi, salted salmon, scallions and wasabi.
