Finally JO1’s 4th single “STRANGER” is released! This time, we asked JO1’s very own prince Shiroiwa Ruki a lot about the highlights of the new songs, about coming across a new world or self in reference to the theme of “STRANGER” which is “coming across an unknown world and discovering a new self”.
There is also the responsibility of having to be recognised In the lead track “REAL” of the new single “STRANGER”, the hugging choreography became quite the talk. This time we often dance individually, but the highlight is the last bridge. The part of the dance break we are like pressing for an answer with the dance and liven up. I’m paired with Ren-kun. I wonder if that combination happened because Ren-kun and I are the only skinny ones. There are not many parts when we dance in unison, but I thought “wow, that’s really cool” when I saw the video used for the lessons, of the end of the first chorus when everyone plays the violin. In the chorus, there is the word “desire” in the lyrics, but when you are asked about your own “desire”... My desire… Right now, I’m devoted to my work, so my desire is that JO1 is recognised even more. Yes, there is also the responsibility of having to be recognised. Personally, I hope to be recognised not as “JO1’s Shiroiwa Ruki”, but as “JO1 in which Shiroiwa Ruki is” and I want to give something back to the team. I hope you especially pay attention to me who is at the front in the intro On “STRANGER” there are 6 new songs featured on 3 versions of the CDs. I also like “ICARUS”, but my favourite is “Freedom”. It’s a song that was created as the theme song for the YSL BEAUTY perfume “LIBRE”, so it feels mature, sexy and sweet. The choreography is also a little sexy and I think we can show a new colour or a new side as JO1 which hasn't been there before. But the dance was really hard! We all struggled a lot with it (laughs). I remember practising until late at night. I hope you especially pay attention to me who is at the front in the intro which starts with (everyone standing in) one vertical line. One of the themes of “STRANGER” is “change”, but for JO1 moving into a new dorm seems to be a big change. It’s so cosy there! My eyes are bad, so my room is as dim as before (laughs). The interior feels hotel-like and not lived-in. The TV rack is my particular feature. I bought a little expensive one but all the members who have come into my room praised it (laughs). Some time ago, me, Mame-chan and Sho-kun gathered in Shosei’s room and had a yakiniku party, but Shosei’s room is also nice. There is a hammock on his veranda! Maybe I also try to decorate my veranda next (laughs) I’m looking forward to seeing how the existence of my juniors will influence me. In other brief news, the diet of me who can’t cook at all is so bad that I appealed directly to the CEO “You need to hire someone who can manage my diet”. That’s not just for me but for everyone (laughs). Isn’t it important to have good food and be in good health?! Is there a new world or a new you that you came across recently? In my life as an artist, I got juniors for the first time! We are not closely involved yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing how their existence will influence me. Thanks to them, I’m motivated “Let’s work hard!” and I braced myself (for the future).
